If you are experiencing a problem where your computer goes immediately to the BIOS after you power it on, there are a number of things that could be causing the issue. Follow the steps below to help you resolve the issue.
Check HDD and SSD cables
During shipping or over time there is a chance that your Hard Disk Drive or SSD cables may have come loose and need to be reseating properly to allow your system to start up properly.
- Remove the side panels (depending on where your drives are located.) The following Figures 1-3 show different locations where your disk drives may be located
Figure 1: Back Side Panel Tray Mounting
Figure 2: Back Side Panel Vertical Mounting
Figure 3: Front Side Mounting - Verify that there are two cables plugged into each drive (Figure 4-5).
Figure 4: SATA DATA Cable
Figure 5: SATA Power Cable - If any cables are missing, then there is a chance it may have fallen off and needs to be reconnected.
- If it is still connected, you'll need to make sure that the connection isn't loose by pushing each cable in to ensure it is seated properly over the pins and has a solid connection. (Figure 6).
Figure 6: Reseating Connections - Once this is complete, try restarting your computer to see if you can boot up without the BIOS automatically loading.
